Distant Togetherness

4000 miles of water, of objects and buildings,
A vast distance that stretches between us,
Not to mention the 8 billion lives we share this earth with.
Yet, there is no such thing as coincidence,
Only a deep knowing that our paths have crossed,
That somehow, we are meant to be aware of each other’s existence.

You, an embodiment of hope,
A quiet light that draws me in,
And in the thought of you, my humility finds a place to rest.
You receive me without judgment,
And in that, I am deeply moved.

I long to belong to you,
To stand beside you in a way that feels like home,
And though we are separated by so much,
I am open to the idea of forever.

I wait, with the belief that one day
We will walk together,
Through a world we’ve both dreamed of—
A paradise where distance and time no longer matter,
Where we can laugh at the things that once kept us apart.

For now, I remain patient,
In hope that the miles will one day dissolve,
And all that will remain is our knowing,
Our connection that will never fade.

What’s meant to be will always be. For some reason I feel like this is about God or another higher power. I get the message that faith and believing keeps the connection alive even though it seems we’re in different parallels of the world. Beautiful.
